Every year, the Arbeitskreis Südasien of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Geographie (DGfG) awards the research prize „Geographies of South Asia“. The award is aimed at Geography graduates (human geography, physical geography, geoinformatics, didactics) from German-speaking universities. We are looking for outstanding theses authored by young academics at the Bachelor or Master level that deal with scientific topics with an explicit reference to South Asia and that are no older than two years by the time of the next conference in May 2021.
Criteria for evaluating the submitted theses are apart from formal criteria: the originality of the research concept, the scientific relevance of the topic, the methodology used as well as the geographical knowledge gained. A committee of experts will appoint the winner, who will be given the opportunity to present his:her work in person or digitally at the next annual conference, which will be held on 7 and 8 May, 2021 at the Institute of Geography, Georg-August-University, Göttingen. In addition, the winner will be given the opportunity to publish his:her thesis as part of the working group’s publication series (http://www.geographien-suedasiens.de/schriftenreihe/).
