CfP: Latin American Symposium on Climate Change Adaptation
Date: 10.-12.11.2016
Location: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
It is a pleasure to invite you to participate in a call for papers for the Symposium on Climate Change Adaptation in Latin America, to take place in Rio de Janeiro during November 10-12 this year. Abstracts should respond to one of the six thematic sessions organized for the event:
Session 1: Climate Change Adaptation, Resilience and Hazards (including droughts/extreme rainfall induced landslides/floods)
Session 2: Climate Change Territory and Society
Session 3: Climate Change Adaptation in Urban Areas, Cities, Countries and via Outreach Programmes
Session 4: Information, Communication, Education and Training on Climate Change Session 5: Climate Change and Health
Session 6: Local Climate Change Adaptation Governance
The Symposium is being organized by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, the Research and Transfer Centre “Applications of Life Sciences” of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany), and the International Climate Change Information Programme (ICCIP). The focus is on “understanding and managing climate change in Latin America”, meaning that it will serve the purpose of showcasing experiences from research, field projects and best practice to foster climate change adaptation among countries in the region, which may be useful or implemented elsewhere.
It will be a truly interdisciplinary event, mobilizing scholars, social movements, practitioners and members of governmental agencies, undertaking research and/or executing climate change projects in Latin America. Adapt Chile is supporting the organization of the sixth session on Local Climate Change Adaptation Governance (see attached Session Description).
In this context, we invite you to send an abstract, with a maximum of 200 words, to Jelena Barbir (jelena@barbir.com.es<mailto:jelena@barbir.com.es>), before the deadline of April 20, 2016.
