Arbeitskreis Biogeographie 2020 in Hamburg

Dear fellow Biogeographers.

We are excited to announce the next annual meeting of the Special Interest Group Biogeography and we cordially invite you to Hamburg from May 7. – 8. 2020.

In recent years, the annual SIG Biogeography conferences have been a meeting place for junior and senior scientists from institutions in Germany, Switzerland and Austria for scientific exchange, discussion and networking. The conference 2020 is organized by the Section Physical Geography of the Institute of Geography, Centrum für Erdsystemforschung und Nachhaltigkeit (CEN), Universität Hamburg.

Especially junior scientists are encouraged to present their research from all fields of ecology, evolutionary biology, geology, and physical geography related to biogeographical research questions. Conference contributions can be submitted as talks or posters.

The theme “Think spatial and do biogeography” of the upcoming annual conference meeting of the SIG Biogeography 2020 will be emphasized by the keynote lecture given by Prof. Dr. Carsten Dormann (Department of Biometry and Environmental System Analysis, Universität Freiburg) on Friday.

Furthermore we will offer 2 pre-conference workshops on common freeware:

“Introduction to SAGA GIS” by Dr. Olaf Conrad (SAGA developer, Institute of Geography, Universität Hamburg)

“Ecological Geocomputing with R” by Dr. Jannes Münchow (Institute of Geography, Universität Jena)

Both workshops are free of additional charge. We aim at attracting junior scientists with a basic knowledge in R. Please confirm your attendance during the registration process.
