The Department of Geography and Regional Research is part of the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy. The department offers scientific

Duration of employment: 4 year/s

Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
Within the term of contract, a dissertation is expected to be written in the thematic spectrum of spatial research and spatial planning. We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months.

The tasks within the Department are the active cooperation in teaching (participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement / mediation of methods, overview and special knowledge in the field of spatial research and spatial planning, participation in the organization) and research (cooperation in the acquisition and processing of research projects; publications on the international scientific community).

Profile:

  • Successfully completed studies of geography with a focus on human geography / spatial research / spatial planning (diploma or master’s degree or comparable qualification)
  • Outstanding achievements in studies
  • Organizational skills, team skills and competence in didactics, moderation and presentation techniques
  • Experience in cooperation in (international) projects
  • Expertise in questions of Austrian and international spatial planning
  • Experienced in quantitative and qualitative methods of empirical social research
  • Competent handling with geo-information software, statistics software, and MS office
  • Ability and interest to integrate the own research questions into the superordinate questions of applied spatial research and to put them in an international context
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
