The Symposium is being organized by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, the Research and Transfer Centre “Applications of Life Sciences” of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany), and the International Climate Change Information Programme (ICCIP). The focus is on “understanding and managing climate change in Latin America”, meaning that it will serve the purpose of showcasing experiences from research, field projects and best practice to foster climate change adaptation among countries in the region, which may be useful or implemented elsewhere.

It will be a truly interdisciplinary event, mobilizing scholars, social movements, practitioners and members of governmental agencies, undertaking research and/or executing climate change projects in Latin America. Adapt Chile is supporting the organization of the sixth session on Local Climate Change Adaptation Governance (see attached Session Description).

In this context, we invite you to send an abstract, with a maximum of 200 words, to Jelena Barbir (jelena@barbir.com.es<mailto:jelena@barbir.com.es>), before the deadline of April 20, 2016. We also ask that any abstracts submitted specifically for Session 6 (Local Climate Change Adaptation Governance) be sent copied to Jordan Harris of Adapt Chile as well (jordan.harris@adapt-chile.org).
